Anchorage to be home of new Tier 2 Junior Hockey Team; UAA WBB wins on the road

JUNIOR A HOCKEY WILL BE A PART OF THE ANCHORAGE SPORTS SCENE STARTING NEXT SEASON AS THE NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY ANNOUNCED THEIR NEWEST TEAM, THE ANCHORAGE WOLVERINES.

THE TIER 2 WOLVERINES WILL COMPETE IN THE MIDWEST DIVISION, THE SAME DIVISION AS THE FAIRBANKS ICE DOGS AND KENAI RIVER BROWN BEARS.

ACCORDING TO THE NAHL PRESS RELEASE, THE WOLVERINES WILL BE OWNED BY A GROUP CONSISTING OF AARON SCHUTT, RYAN BINKLEY, KAI BINKLEY SIMS, JOHN ELLSWORTH JUNIOR AND JAY FRAWNER.

WHAT ARENA THE TEAM WILL BE USING WAS NOT DISCLOSED IN THE PRESS RELEASE.

 

 

 

UAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL BEGAN THEIR ABBREVIATED SPRING SCHEDULE WITH A 94-55 WIN OVER MULTNOMAH UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND YESTERDAY. SENIOR GUARD STEPHANIE JACKSON LED THE WAY WITH 17 POINTS, WHILE SENIOR CENTER TENNAE VOLIVA ADDED 14. THE UAA DEFENSE FORCED 23 MULTNOMAH TURNOVERS.  THE SEAWOLVES WILL PLAY AGAIN TODAY IN PORTLAND AGAINST WARNER PACIFIC.
