Colony, Glennallen, Lathrop capture state wrestling championships

COLONY AND GLENNALLEN CAPTURED BOYS STATE TEAM TITLES AS THE HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING SEASON CAME TO A CLOSE WITH THE 1 AND 2-A STATE TOURNAMENTS.

IT’S THE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP IN 37 YEARS FOR CLASS 2-A GLENNALLEN, WHO HAD KAEL GERLACH AND JORDAN KORTH COMPLETE UNDEFEATED SEASONS.

THE PANTHERS WERE FIRST, FOLLOWED BY BARROW, NOME AND GRACE CHRISTIAN.

COLONY, MEANWHILE, GOT WINS FROM ALL FIVE OF THEIR FINALISTS TO EDGE OUT SECOND PLACE LATHROP IN CLASS 1-A. SOUTH WAS THIRD, SOLDOTNA FOURTH AND EAST FIFTH. GOING UNDEFEATED ALL SEASON FOR COLONY WAS JERSEY RITZ, CARTER SILVA, KAYDEN PAYNE, JARED HOPKINS AND AIDAN EHMANN.

 

ON THE GIRLS SIDE OF THINGS, LATHROP FINISHED FIRST WITH NORTH POLE SECOND AND COLONY THIRD. AUTUMN POLAND AND KIERSTYN BOCKETT WON INDIVIDUAL TITLES FOR THE MALEMUTES.
