Girls HS Hockey Tournament continues; Ski for Women (and men!) coming up

THE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS CONTINUE TODAY AT THE BONNIE CUSACK OUTDOOR RINKS NEAR MULCAHY.

AT 4:15, SOUTH/BARTLETT TAKES ON SERVICE/EAST. SOUTH/BARTLETT WAS A 2-0 WINNER OVER DIMOND/WEST MONDAY, WHILE, SERVICE EAST DROPPED A 3-1 DECISION TO CHUGIAK/EAGLE RIVER.

AT 6:00 TONIGHT, CHUGIAK/EAGLE RIVER PLAYS DIMOND/WEST.

THE TOURNAMENT CONTINUES FRIDAY WITH A PAIR OF GAMES, THEN CONCLUDES SATURDAY WITH A 12:30 THIRD-PLACE GAME, THEN A 2PM CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

 

REGISTRATION CONTINUES FOR THE ANNUAL ALASKA SKI FOR WOMEN COMING UP THIS WEEKEND. BUT THE EVENT OFFERS A UNIQUE TWIST OR TWO IN THIS TIME OF THE PANDEMIC.

MEN ARE ALSO INVITED TO PARTICIPATE, AND THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE OVER FIVE DAYS, SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

A 4K COURSE WILL BE MARKED AT KINCAID PARK FOR SUNDAY MORNING, BUT SKIERS CAN USE ANY COURSE DURING THE FIVE DAYS…THE IDEA IS TO GET MORE PEOPLE OUT AND ACTIVE.

ACCORDING TO PUBLISHED REPORTS, ALMOST 500 PEOPLE ARE ALREADY SIGNED UP, INCLUDING OVER 70 MEN.

THOUGH THE EVENT STARTS SUNDAY, REGISTRATION IS OPEN THROUGH THURSDAY OF NEXT WEEK.
