Hardwick wraps up Iditarod with Red Lantern; Cook Inlet Conference hoops honors

THE 49TH IDITAROD SLED DOG RACE WRAPPED UP EARLY THIS MORNING, AS VICTORIA HARDWICK CROSSED THE FINISH LINE AT DESHKA LANDING AT 12:22AM. HARDWICK EARNS HER SECOND RED LANTERN AWARD, THE FIRST COMING IN 2019.

HARDWICK WAS THE 36TH FINISHER IN THE RACE, OUT OF THE 47 THAT STARTED SUNDAY, MARCH 7TH.

 

THE TOP ROOKIE THIS YEAR WAS CHAD STODDARD. HE CROSSED THE FINISH LINE YESTERDAY IN 23RD PLACE. HE EARNED AN EXTRA 2 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE EFFORT, AND HIS NAME ON A TROPHY THAT IS ON DISPLAY AT IDITAROD HEADQUARTERS.

 

AS THE COOK INLET CONFERENCE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT CONTINUES, ALL-CIC TEAMS WERE ANNOUNCED, AS WELL AS COACHES OF THE YEAR.

FOR THE BOYS, EAST HIGH’S HASSAN HERRINGTON WAS NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR, WHILE CHUGIAK’S JOSI SCHULTZ WAS COACH OF THE YEAR.

FOR THE GIRLS, THE MVP WAS BARTLETT’S AMELIA UHILA, AND CAPTURING COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS WAS EAST’S LAURA INGHAM.
