URBACH HAS A BACKGROUND IN FINANCE AND SPENT A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME WITH THE USA TRIATHLON PROGRAM AS THEIR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.

THE FIRST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE IDITAROD WAS SATURDAY, AND 40 MUSHERS DID JUST THAT. CURRENT CHAMPION PETE KAISER, PAST CHAMPIONS JOAR LEIFSETH ULSOM, MARTIN BUSER, MITCH SEAVEY AND LANCE MACKEY ARE ALL EARLY ENTRANTS.

JUNEAU AND CHUGIAK WERE THE TOP FINISHING ALASKA TEAMS, BOTH MAKING THE SEMIFINALS. NAPOLEON WILL TAKE THEIR BP TITLE TO KENAI FOR TOMORROW’S START OF THE BILL MILLER BIG FISH INVITATIONAL AT CORAL SEYMOUR PARK.

IN THE ALASKA BASEBALL LEAGUE, THE ANCHORAGE GLACIER PILOTS WON THEIR FOURTH GAME IN A ROW OVER THE PENINSULA OILERS IN KENAI WITH A 3-2 WIN YESTERDAY. THE ANCHORAGE BUCS ALSO WON, KNOCKING OFF THE CHUGIAK CHINOOKS 6-2. THE BUCS ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE ABL BY TWO GAMES OVER THE MAT-SU MINERS. TODAY, THE OILERS HOST THE PILOTS ONE MORE TIME, AND THE CHINOOKS TRAVEL TO PALMER TO PLAY THE MINERS AT THE HERMON BROTHERS.

 

SATURDAY’S ALASKA MEN’S 5 MILE RUN WINNERS WERE MADISON IMIG AND BRIAN SWEENEY. AND THE WINNERS THURSDAY AT THE RUNNING FREE FOUR MILER WERE BREANNA DAY AND PRESTON WORTHINGTON.
