THE “COMPETITION” IF YOU WILL WAS A FANTASY BRACKET CREATED BY THE HALL’S VAN WILLIAMS, AND FEATURED 64 OF THE BEST DIVISION ONE PLAYERS IN ALASKA HISTORY. WILLIAMS DEVISED A FORMULA BY WHICH HE ELIMINATED PLAYERS AFTER AN INITIAL HEAD TO HEAD SEEDING PROCESS.

WITH BALLOTING BY TWO DOZEN SELECT VOTERS AROUND THE STATE, LANGDON ADVANCED TO A FINAL FOUR WHICH ALSO INCLUDED FORMER BARTLETT AND KANSAS UNIVERSITY GUARD MARIO CHALMERS, FORMER JUNEAU AND DUKE FORWARD CARLOS BOOZER AND FORMER LATHROP AND SANTA CLARA GUARD KYLE BAILEY. IN THE FINAL FOUR, BAILEY WAS OUTVOTED BY LANGDON, AND CHALMERS ADVANCED AGAINST BOOZER.

IN THE FINAL, IT WAS LANGDON’S SHOOTING THAT GAVE HIM THE EDGE OVER CHALMERS, WHO WASN’T A BAD SHOOTER HIMSELF. THAT, AND THE FACT THAT TRAJAN WAS A TWO-TIME ALL-AMERICAN AT DUKE, AND WAS THE ONLY ALASKAN TO GARNER THREE FIRST-TEAM ALL CONFERENCE HONORS.
