Lydia Jacoby!!! Seward Swimmer makes waves as new US Olympic Team member!

SEWARD HIGH SCHOOL’S LYDIA JACOBY BECAME THE FIRST ALASKAN SWIMMER TO EVER QUALIFY FOR THE SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES AFTER TAKING SECOND PLACE IN THE 100 METER BREASTSTROKE AT THE US OLYMPIC TRIALS IN OMAHA TUESDAY.

THE 17 YEAR OLD JACOBY SURGED IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE RACE TO A TIME OF 1 MINUTE, 5.28 SECONDS, SETTING AN AGE GROUP RECORD FOR THE SECOND DAY IN A ROW. SHE WAS IN FIFTH PLACE AT THE TURN, AND THEN SWAM FASTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE EXCEPT RACE WINNER AND WORLD-RECORD HOLDER LILLY KING.

JACOBY WILL BE A SENIOR THIS COMING SCHOOL YEAR AT SEWARD HIGH SCHOOL.
