THE SERVICE BOYS AND DIMOND GIRLS CAPTURED CHAMPIONSHIPS SATURDAY AS THE ASAA/FIRST NATIONAL BANK STATE SOCCER TOURNAMENT CAME TO A CLOSE.

DIMOND FRESHMAN MAI MATEAKI SCORED TWICE, INCLUDING A PENALTY KICK IN THE 82ND MINUTE TO LIFT THE LYNX TO THEIR SECOND STRAIGHT GIRLS DIVISION ONE TITLE.

THIRD PLACE WENT TO WEST VALLEY. THE WOLF PACK SHUT OUT COLONY 3-0.

MEANWHILE, THE COUGARS GOT AN EARLY SECOND-HALF GOAL BY JUNIOR SIMON CARRICABURU AND MADE IT STAND UP IN THEIR 1-0 VICTORY OVER DIMOND IN THE BOYS DIVISION ONE FINAL.

THE LYNX CAME INTO THE CONTEST UNDEFEATED AT 16-0, AND HADN’T SURRENDERED A GOAL IN THE PRIOR TWO TOURNAMENT GAMES.

THE COUGARS CAPTURED THEIR FRIST STATE TITLE SINCE 2004.

THIRD PLACE WENT TO WEST. THE EAGLES BEAT COLONY 2-1.

 

IN DIVISION 2, THE JUNEAU-DOUGLAS GIRLS KNOCKED OFF SOLDOTNA 5-1 TO WIN THEIR THIRD STRAIGHT TITLE. THUNDER MOUNTAIN BLANKED HOMER 2-0 FOR THIRD PLACE.

THE DIVISION TWO BOYS CHAMPION IS THUNDER MOUNTAIN. THEY BEAT SOLDOTNA 3-2. JUNEAU-DOUGLAS GOT THIRD BY BEATING DEFENDING CHAMPION KENAI 3-0.
