Trinity takes Alaska Airlines Classic title, Dimond’s Moses shines

TRINITY PREP OF NEVADA TOOK THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE ALASKA AIRLINES CLASSIC SATURDAY NIGHT AT WEST HIGH SCHOOL, BEATING DIMOND 70-63. DAISHEN NIX, THE FORMER ANCHORAGE RESIDENT NOW HEADED FOR UCLA, SCORED 21 FOR TRINITY. DIMOND’S EFFORT WAS LED BY TOURNAMENT LEADING SCORER ISIAH MOSES, WHO IS HEADED FOR UAA. MOSES POURED IN 42 POINTS IN THE LOSS. DILLARD OF FLORIDA TOOK THIRD PLACE.

 

FOLLOWING A THURSDAY NIGHT LOSS AT WESTERN WASHINGTON, THE FIFTH RANKED UAA WOMEN BOUNCED BACK WITH AN 87-66 WIN AT SIMON FRASER SATURDAY. JUNIOR CENTER TENNAE VOLIVA SCORED 19 POINTS AND GRABBED 10 REBOUNDS FOR THE SEAWOLVES, WHO RETURN TO THE HOME FLOOR THIS THURSDAY AGAINST ST. MARTIN’S.

 

UAA HOCKEY FELL ON THE ROAD, LOSING 3-2 FRIDAY NIGHT AT LAKE SUPERIOR STATE, THEN SATURDAY EARNED A POINT WITH A 3-3 TIE, BUT LOST IN THE 3 ON 3 OVERTIME. THE SEAWOLVES ARE IN 8TH PLACE IN THE WCHA STANDINGS, AND WILL HOST FIRST-PLACE MINNESOTA STATE-MANKATO THIS COMING WEEKEND AT THE SEAWOLF SPORTS CENTER.

 

UAA SKIING’S Sigurd Roenning earned his second podium of the weekend at the Denver Invite Sunday.

Roenning finished third with a time of 55:30 over the 10-kilometer freestyle course.

UAA finished fifth of eight teams.
