UAA Hoops tonight; South hockey wins in OT

UAA BASKETBALL IS IN THE SPORTS SPOTLIGHT TODAY AS THE SEAWOLVES MEN AND WOMEN WILL ON THE HOME FLOOR.

THE NUMBER NINE-RANKED WOMEN WILL TAKE ON ST. MARTIN’S AT 5:15 THIS AFTERNOON. UAA IS COMING OFF A 1-1 ROAD TRIP, LOSING A WEEK AGO AT WESTERN WASHINGTON, THEN REBOUNDING WITH A WIN AT SIMON FRASER. THE SEAWOLVES ARE 9-1 IN CONFERENCE PLAY, 19-2 OVERALL, AND ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE GREAT NORTHWEST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE, ONE GAME AHEAD OF NORTHWEST NAZARENE. ST. MARTIN’S COMES TO ALASKA IN A SEVENTH PLACE TIE WITH SEATTLE PACIFIC, WHO UAA WILL PLAY SATURDAY.

THE UAA MEN WILL ALSO TAKE ON ST. MARTIN’S, AT 7:30 TONIGHT.  THE SEAWOLVES ARE IN THIRD PLACE IN THE GNAC AT 6-4, 13-8 OVERALL. ST. MARTIN’S COMES IN IN 10TH PLACE IN THE CONFERENCE AT 2-8 AND 4-15 OVERALL. UAA THEN GETS FIRST PLACE SEATTLE PACIFIC SATURDAY NIGHT.

 

IN BOYS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY FROM YESTERDAY, REED DONALD SCORED THE GAME’S ONLY GOAL, IN OVERTIME, TO GIVE SOUTH THE WIN OVER EAGLE RIVER. TODAY, EAST PLAYS BARTLETT AT 6:30 AT THE BEN BOEKE. AT THE MACDONALD CENTER, WEST VALLEY PLAYS CHUGIAK AT 5:15, THEN WEST AND EAGLE RIVER PLAY AT 7:30.
