UAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CRUISED TO A PAIR OF VICTORIES AGAINST NAIA OPPONENT PORTLAND BIBLE OVER THE WEEKEND…105-56 IN AN EXHIBITION GAME, AND IN THE SEAWOLVES FIRST OFFICIAL GAME OF THE SEASON, SOPHOMORE GUARD TOBIN KARLBERG SCORED A TEAM-HIGH 18 POINTS IN AN 80-34 BLOWOUT. TYLER BRIMHALL ADDED 17 POINTS FOR THE SEAWOLVES, WHO WENT ON A 26-2 RUN EARLY IN THE GAME. UAA NEXT PLAYS FRIDAY AT 8PM AGAINST COAST GUARD ACADEMY, PART OF THE ESPN ARMED FORCES CLASSIC. PRIOR TO THAT GAME, DIVISION ONE FOES WASHINGTON AND OREGON WILL PLAY AT 5:30. THAT GAME WILL BE TELEVISED ON ESPN. THE UAA GAME WILL BE SHOWN ON ESPNU.

 

UAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TOOK ON A GIANT, AND CAME UP SHORT IN THE END. SAFFIYAH YASIN SCORED 14 POINTS IN THE SEAWOLVES 91-59 EXHIBITION GAME LOSS TO DIVISION ONE POWERHOUSE DUKE AT CAMERON INDOOR. UAA WILL NOW RETURN HOME TO PREPARE FOR THE SEASON-OPENERS, SATURDAY AGAINST CHAMINADE AND SUNDAY AGAINST SAN FRANCISCO STATE.

 

UAA HOCKEY WENT TOE TO TOE WITH NEBRASKA-OMAHA, ONE OF THE TOP TEAMS FROM THE NCHC, AND TOOK THE MAVERICKS TO OVERTIME FRIDAY AS THE GAME ENDED IN A 3-3 TIE AT THE SEAWOLF SPORTS CENTER. THE SEAWOLVES GOT GOALS FROM RYLEE ST. ONGE, ALEX FRYE AND TANNER SCHACHLE, AND 24 SAVES FROM GOALTENDER KRIS CARLSON. UAA GOES ON THE ROAD THIS COMING WEEKEND, RETURNING TO WCHA ACTION AT ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE.

 

UAA VOLLEYBALL SAW ITS 4 MATCH WIN STREAK COME TO AN END SATURDAY AS THE SEAWOLVES DROPPED A 3-2 VERDICT TO CENTRAL WASHINGTON IN ELLENSBURG. SOPHOMORE EVE STEPHEN TIED A CAREER-HIGH WITH 23 KILLS, BUT CENTRAL WAS ABLE FEND OFF UAA RALLIES TO AVENGE A 3-0 LOSS IN ANCHORAGE EARLIER THIS SEASON. UAA RETURNS HOME TO PLAY WESTERN OREGON THURSDAY AT THE ALASKA AIRLINES CENTER.

 

THE DIMOND LYNX, FOR THE 10TH SEASON IN A ROW, RULE THE POOL IN THE COOK INLET CONFERENCE, WINNING BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS TEAM TITLES SATURDAY AT THE BARTLETT POOL.
