ANOTHER WIN FOR UAA VOLLEYBALL THURSDAY NIGHT AS THE SEAWOLVES FLEW BY VISITING ST. MARTIN’S 3 SETS TO 0 AT THE ALASKA AIRLINES CENTER. OUTSIDE HITTER EVE STEPHENS HAD 15 KILLS, AND VANNESSA HAYES AND KAYLA MCGLATHERY CONTRIBUTED 9 KILLS EACH TO THE EFFORT. WITH THE WIN, THE SEAWOLVES STAY WITHIN ONE GAME OF FIRST-PLACE WESTERN WASHINGTON WITH ONE MATCH REMAINING IN THE REGULAR SEASON FOR BOTH. UAA FINISHES SATURDAY NIGHT WITH SEATTLE PACIFIC, WHILE WESTERN PLAYS NORTHWEST NAZARENE.

 

UAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL IS HOSTING THE SEAWOLF HOOPS CLASSIC STARTING FRIDAY AT THE ALASKA AIRLINES CENTER. AT 4:30, WESTMINSTER PLAYS FAIRBANKS, THEN AT 7, THE HOST SEAWOLVES GET WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE. SATURDAY, GAMES ARE AT 1 AND 3:30.

 

UAA HOCKEY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY HAS THE SEAWOLVES VISITING NUMBER ONE RANKED MINNESOTA STATE-MANKATO. UAA IS COMING OFF BEING SWEPT AT HOME AGAINST BOWLING GREEN, AND SIT IN 7TH PLACE IN THE WCHA. THE MAVERICKS HAD LAST WEEKEND OFF. MANKATO IS IN A FIRST PLACE TIE WITH NORTHERN MICHIGAN AND FAIRBANKS. GAME TIME FRIDAY AND SATURDAY IS 4PM ALASKA TIME.

SPEAKING OF THE WCHA, IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE BECAME THE LATEST SCHOOL TO ANNOUNCE INTENTIONS TO LEAVE THE CONFERENCE. THAT LEAVES UAA AND UAF AS THE ONLY SCHOOLS COMMITTED TO CONTINUING PAST NEXT SEASON, HOWEVER, HUNTSVILLE REMAINS IN TALKS WITH UAA AND UAF ABOUT NEW WCHA POSSIBILITIES. STAY TUNED…

 

ANCHORAGE’S CLAIR DEGEORGE, A STANDOUT FOR BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY, HAS BEEN INVITED TO USA HOCKEY’S WINTER TRAINING CAMP. DEGEORGE HAS ALREADY WON A GOLD MEDAL WITH THE USA WOMEN. SHE JOINS 45 OTHERS, INCLUDING 21 OLYMPIANS.

 

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY HAS BARTLETT PLAYING WEST AT 6:30 FRIDAY AT THE BEN BOEKE. SERVICE MEETS WASILLA AT 7 AT THE BRETT MEMORIAL.
