UAA Volleyball wins two in Fairbanks; KHAR HS Hockey Game of the Week Series

UAA VOLLEYBALL COMPLETED A WEEKEND SWEEP OF RIVAL FAIRBANKS, WINNING 3-1 FRIDAY NIGHT IN THE GOLDEN HEART CITY, THEN TAKING A THREE SET WIN SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

FRIDAY, JUNIOR EVE STEPHENS HAD 16 KILLS TO LEAD THE WAY FOR UAA. JUNIOR ELLEN FLOYD DISHED 40 ASSISTS AS UAA CLINCHED A WINNING SPRING SEASON WITH THE WIN.

SATURDAY, THE SEAWOLVES UPPED THE ANTE, GOING TO 9-1 WITH THE THREE-GAME SWEEP OF THE NANOOKS. FLOYD WAS THE CATALYST IN THE WIN, SETTING A SCHOOL RECORD WITH 7 SERVICE ACES, AND HAD 33 ASSISTS AS WELL. STEPHENS CONTRIBUTED 10 KILLS IN THE MATCH.

UAA WILL COMPLETE THEIR ABBREVIATED SPRING SEASON WITH A TRIP THIS WEEK TO HAWAII, PLAYING 5 MATCHES ON THE BIG ISLAND, STARTING WITH A FRIDAY MATCH WITH HAWAII-HILO.

 

THE KHAR HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY GAME OF THE WEEK SERIES SATURDAY FEATURED A DOUBLEHEADER, WITH WEST BEATING BARTLETT IN THE FIRST GAME, THEN IN THE NIGHTCAP, DIMOND GOT TWO GOALS FROM SENIOR JACK DOLAN IN A 5-1 WIN OVER RIVAL SOUTH. REED DONALD SCORED FOR THE WOLVERINES IN A BATTLE BETWEEN THE NUMBER ONE AND TWO TEAMS IN THE COOK INLET CONFERENCE. DIMOND REMAINS IN FIRST PLACE AT 8-1 ON THE SEASON. SOUTH DROPPED TO 6-2.

AT THE MCDONALD ARENA, EAGLE RIVER GOT BY RIVAL CHUGIAK 4-2 AS AARON JAMES HAD THE HAT TRICK AND TAY KURPIUS ADDED A GOAL FOR THE WOLVES. HUNTER MERRICK AND MADDOC NEWTON SCORED FOR THE MUSTANGS.
