SAFFIYAH YASIN SCORED 15 POINTS, JAHNA HAJDUKOVICH AND LAUREN JOHNSON EACH ADDED 10, AND THE UAA DEFENSE FORCED 21WILDCAT TURNOVERS. UAA IS NOW 15-1 OVERALL, 5-0 IN THE GREAT NORTHWEST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE, AND TAKE ON LAST YEAR’S GNAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPION NORTHWEST NAZARENE SATURDAY NIGHT AT 7:30.

THE UAA MEN MEANWHILE LOST TO WESTERN WASHINGTON IN THE NIGHTCAP 74-70. TYLER BRIMHALL SCORED 15 POINTS AND ADDED NINE REBOUNDS, BUT THE SEAWOLVES LATE SURGE WASN’T ENOUGH TO UPEND THE VIKINGS. THE UAA HOCKEY TEAM IS ON THE ROAD, TRAVELING TO THE U.P. FOR GAMES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AGAINST NORTHERN MICHIGAN IN MARQUETTE. UAA IS COMING OFF A SPLIT LAST WEEKEND AT HOME WITH LAKE SUPERIOR STATE, AND SIT IN NINTH PLACE IN THE WCHA. NORTHERN MICHIGAN IS IN THIRD PLACE GOING INTO THE WEEKEND. FOLLOWING THE GAMES IN MARQUETTE, UAA RETURNS HOME TO FACE ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE JANUARY 17TH AND 18TH.

 

UAA GYMNASTICS KICKS OFF THE SEASON FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7 WITH A TRI-MEET AT HOME WITH SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND WISCONSIN-EAU CLAIRE. THE SEAWOLVES ARE COMING OFF WHAT COULD BE CONSIDERED THEIR BEST SEASON EVER, SETTING 17 SCHOOL RECORDS. SEVEN GYMNASTS RETURN FROM THAT TEAM, INCLUDING NCAA QUALIFYER SOPHIA HYDERALLY. SUNDAY, UAA AND SOUTHEAST MISSOURI WILL HAVE A DUAL MEET A 2 AT THE ALASKA AIRLINES CENTER.

 

IN HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL, THE BOYS ALASKA PREP SHOOTOUT CONTINUES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY OVER AT DIMOND HIGH SCHOOL.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY HAS TWO GAMES AT DEMPSEY ANDERSON FRIDAY AT 4:30 AND 6.

IN BOYS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY, DIMOND PLAYS BARTLETT AT 6:30 AT THE BEN BOEKE FRIDAY.
