UAA Women’s hoops completes Hawaii sweep

HILO, Hawaii (Dec. 18) – Seniors Kian McNair and Tara Thompson combined for 23 points to lead a balanced Alaska Anchorage attach Tuesday in a 75-58 women’s basketball victory over Holy Names at Afook-Chinen  Civic Auditorium.

The nationally 14th-ranked Seawolves also got 10 points, six rebounds and four assists from Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year Hannah Wandersee as she surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career in the victory.

HILO, Hawaii (Dec. 19) – Sophomore forward Cameron Fernandez scored 13 points to pace another balanced effort from the 14th-ranked Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team in a 71-60 victory over Hawaii-Hilo on Wednesday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The Seawolves (9-1) also got 11 points and eight rebounds from sophomore wing Sala Langi and 10 points, five assists and three steals from senior guard Kian McNair in their final non-conference game of the regular season.

The Seawolves have next week off before returning to play Jan. 3 when they host Simon Fraser (5-4, 1-1 GNAC) in the resumption of Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. Tip-off is 5:15 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center. Call 907-786-1562 or visit or for tickets.
