THE COOK INLET CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT GOT UNDERWAY TUESDAY NIGHT WITH NUMBER ONE SEED DIMOND FLYING BY EAST 3 SETS TO NIL. NUMBER TWO SOUTH GOT BY EAGLE RIVER IN THREE STRAIGHT SETS. BARTLETT SWEPT WEST IN THREE, AND IT WAS A STRAIGHT SETS VICTORY FOR CHUGIAK OVER SERVICE.

WEDNESDAY, THE ACTION MOVES TO SERVICE HIGH SCHOOL AS EAST TAKES ON WEST AT 5:30 AND EAGLE RIVER MEETS SERVICE AT 7:30. THE LOSER OF EACH MATCH IS ELIMINATED FROM THE TOURNAMENT.

 

HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING WEDNESDAY FEATURES SERVICE AT CHUGIAK AND DIMOND IS AT SOUTH. BOTH MEETS BEGIN AT 6PM.

 

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL DIVISION ONE HONORS WERE ANNOUNCED, AND THE STATE CHAMPION EAST HIGH T-BIRDS WERE WELL REPRESENTED. COLTON HERMAN WAS NAMED THE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR, AND HALE SIUFUA WAS NAMED THE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. EAST ASSISTANT COACH DON POWELL WAS ALSO HONORED.

IN DIVISION TWO, EAGLE RIVER’S BOB ADKINS WAS NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR.
