PORTLAND, Ore. (Nov. 26) – Alaska Anchorage senior Hannah Wandersee was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for women’s basketball on Monday after leading the nationally 6th-ranked Seawolves to a pair of victories last week.

The 6-2 center posted two-game averages of 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals as she captured Most Outstanding Player honors in the D-II Coast to Coast Classic. In Friday’s win over Florida Tech, she led a second-half comeback with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, nine rebounds and a career-high-tying five blocks. In Saturday’s 69-58 victory over defending Pacific West Conference Tournament champion Hawaii Pacific, the Kodiak High School product tallied 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting, plus four rebounds and a pair of steals.

This marks the second GNAC weekly honor of her career for Wandersee – the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year – and the first for a Seawolf this season.

UAA (6-0) begins the GNAC campaign this week with road games at the only two other unbeaten teams in the league, facing Central Washington (5-0) on Thursday at 6 p.m. AST and nationally ranked Northwest Nazarene (6-0) on Saturday at 5 p.m. AST.
