THE ACTION GOT UNDERWAY FRIDAY NIGHT WITH THE ESPN ARMED FORCES CLASSIC, AS DIVISION ONE WASHINGTON DEFEATED 16TH RANKED BAYLOR 67-64. IN THE SECOND GAME, THE UAA MEN DOWN COAST GUARD ACADEMY 88-78. THE UAA MEN CONTINUED THEIR WEEKEND BY KNOCKING OFF HAWAII PACIFIC 77-48 SATURDAY, THEN DROPPING YESTERDAY’S GAME TO CHAMINADE 85-56.

THE UAA WOMEN GOT THEIR HOME SEASON UNDERWAY WITH A PAIR OF WINS. SATURDAY, THE SEAWOLVES WHACKED CHAMINADE 93-45, THEN SUNDAY OVERWHELMED SAN FRANCISCO STATE 110 TO 82.

THE UAA VOLLEYBALL TEAM GOT IN ON THE WINNING ACTION, TAKING DOWN CONCORDIA-PORTLAND 3 GAMES TO 1 SATURDAY. VANNESSA HAYES HAD A CAREER-HIGH 19 KILLS IN THE MATCH. UAA NOW HEADS ON THE ROAD FOR BIG GNAC MATCHES AT WESTERN WASHINGTON THURSDAY AND SIMON FRASER SATURDAY.

 

THE UAA HOCKEY TEAM CAPTURED FIVE OUT OF A POSSIBLE 6 POINTS AT ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE. THE SEAWOLVES AND CHARGERS SKATED TO A 4-4 TIE FRIDAY, WITH UAA WINNING THE SHOOTOUT ON A GOAL BY BRAYDEN CAMRUD, THEN SATURDAY TOOK A 3-1 VERDICT WITH TWO GOALS COMING OFF THE STICK OF TREY DEGRAAF. UAA RETURNS HOME THIS WEEKEND FOR GAMES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AGAINST BOWLING GREEN.

 

UAA CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER EMMA CHELIMO WON HER SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEST REGION TITLE SATURDAY HELPING THE UAA WOMEN TO A FOURTH PLACE FINISH. ON THE MEN’S SIDE, JUNIORS FELIX KEMBOI AND WESLEY KIRUI FINISHED 8TH AND NINTH RESPECTIVELY.

 

DIMOND CAPTURED THE COOK INLET CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL TITLE WITH A PAIR OF WINS OVER RIVAL SOUTH. THE LYNX, WOLVERINES AND BARTLETT GOLDEN BEARS WILL ALL REPRESENT AT THE STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND AT THE ALASKA AIRLINES CENTER.

 

STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS WERE WON BY THE SERVICE BOYS AND DIMOND GIRLS SATURDAY AT THE BARTLETT POOL.
